“This glacier is one of the most popular attractions for local, national, and international tourists in Huascarán National Park due to its easy access and natural beauty. During the rainy season, visitors can enjoy the stunning view of the snow-capped peaks and explore the path of climate change.”
We head south from the city of Huaraz and pass through the towns of Recuay and Ticapampa, where we stop for 30 minutes to enjoy a refreshing coca tea. Continuing our journey, we take a detour towards the Cordillera Blanca through the Carpa sector. Along the way, we visit a natural gasified water source and then explore the Puyas Raimondi forest. Finally, we arrive at the base parking lot of the Pastoruri glacier, where we can hike or ride horses to reach the glacier. Here, we visit the climate change route and witness the massive ice walls that illustrate the alarming retreat of glaciers due to global warming, while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding mountain landscape.
Afterwards, we return to the parking lot where our transportation awaits to take us back to the city of Huaraz.
