The recommended departure time from Huaraz is 6:00 am so that you can fully enjoy the route. The journey (approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes) takes us to the northeast of Huaraz, through small villages along a dirt road until we reach the Llaca Valley checkpoint. This is where we start the hike under the towering rock walls alongside the queñual forests. We’ll cross a bridge and take the flatter part of the trail before walking alongside the river for about an hour and a half. The last part of the ascent is a zigzag trail that takes about 40 minutes to reach the lake, where we’ll have lunch and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding mountain peaks. We’ll walk around the lake to take photos and enjoy the scenery before heading back to Huaraz.
