We depart from Huaraz and head north, passing through the provinces of Carhuaz and Yungay. After a two and a half hour bus ride, we arrive at Huasao town where we will have breakfast.

Continuing our journey, we arrive at Huascarán National Park control station in approximately 20 minutes where we pay our entrance fee. We then head towards the Llanganuco valley, where we make a brief stop at the Chinancocha Lagoon to take pictures and admire its beautiful turquoise color for about 15 minutes.

Following the route, we arrive at the starting point of the hike called “Cebolla Pampa”. The first 2.5 km are semi-flat and then we begin the 2 km zigzag ascent. The last part of the hike is mixed, with a flat section of 1.5 km and a zigzag section of 1 km, which will take us approximately 3 hours of walking.

At the lagoon, we can enjoy the impressive views and intense blue color while we savor our lunch. Afterward, we begin the return hike to the starting point, which will take us approximately two and a half hours, and then return to Huaraz.
